Scissor Lifts

Scissor Lifts

The scissor lift or platform lift, is an automated industrial lift that may be tailored to be utilized in retail, wholesale, manufacturing and production environments. Mechanized scissor lifts have been used chiefly within production and manufacturing facilities for many decades to successfully hoist and lower supplies, people and other equipment. The scissor lift is a platform with wheels that operates like a lift truck. It is useful for tasks that require the mobility and speed of transporting individuals and material into the air.

Scissor lifts can reach anywhere from 6.5 to 18.8 meters or 21 to 62 feet when completely extended. It is not like other types of lifts that employ a straight support to hoist its platform, rather it has folding supports directly below the platform that come together to stretch the platform upwards. Available with either an electric or hydraulic motor, the scissor lift offers a rough ride due to the lift's design that keeps it from traveling with a constant velocity. Instead, it travels faster in the middle of its path and slows down with added extension.

Ever since the first scissor platform lifts were produced in the 1970's, they have experienced many enhancements in the resources used and security features added, while still keeping with the identical base design. Closely associated to the forklift, scissor lifts are in reality recognized for their effectiveness and portability, as they are the only industrial platform lift that can be simply stored in a corner spot in the office. Modern scissor lifts are presently used in practically all areas of production and manufacturing. Utilized in the construction industry effectively on an bumpy terrain and commonly used indoors among warehouses to automobile repair, these machines complete a diverse workload.
