Fort Mcmurray Aerial Lift Training - The mechanized access platform known as an aerial work platform is a machine which provides access to areas which are otherwise inaccessible to people and other equipment. Also called an aerial device or elevating work platform, the machinery is often used to access high places. Maintenance and construction staff often need to utilize aerial work platforms on the job. Firefighters utilize them for emergency access.
Designed for temporary use, aerial work platforms are different from elevators, that provide permanent access to high places. An aerial work platform is designed to be operated by a single person, and could lift weights of less than one ton. Some kinds have load limits that are higher. There are different kinds of aerial work platforms; like for example, there is a "cherry picker" and a "scissor lift".
Many of the aerial work platforms are equipped with electrical outlets or compressed air connectors for power tools. For specialist tasks, like for instance lifting frames for window glass, an aerial work platform can come together with special equipment.
Anybody needed to operate an aerial lifting device requires training, together with their supervisors. Members of Health & Safety Committees and representatives responsible for inspecting aerial machine work areas also need to go through training. Trainees would become familiar with aerial lifting device operation. They would also gain an understanding of the rules which apply to safely using these devices. Regulations vary from province to province, and within federally regulated worksites.
Any worker who is needed to be lifted by or work near an aerial lifting device should be told concerning possible dangers. An Aerial Lift Training Video can be shown in a general safety session so as to educate all of the workers who are lifted by them or work near them.
Aerial Lift Training Program includes modules focused on the following: Aerial Lift Devices and Operating Controls; Hazard Identification; Pre Operational Checks for Aerial Lift Devices; and Platform Positioning & Park Positioning. The program is intended to train workers on safely using self-propelled, elevated work platforms and self-propelled, boom supported, elevated work platforms. A certificate will be provided to employees who finish the program, signed by someone qualified to confirm the successful completion of a hands-on practical exam.
